This is a tradition that is lost in time and that crosses several generations. The Population of Saímes, in Espadanedo, fulfills the tradition and annually erects a giant arch in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes. This wood-built arch is ornamented with paper cut out by the women over several weeks and then glued together the week before the feast day with a paste made of wheat flour. The image of Our Lady of Lourdes is mandatory, as well as the coats of arms of the municipality of Cinfães and the Parish Council of Espadanedo. The Route of the Romanesque, peace in the world and the love of the inhabitants of Espadanedo to its parish are some of the themes represented in the arch.
